It’s Monday, and the kid is off for the week. His dad and I got together and decided to lift the grounding/video game ban because I personally will go insane if he has nothing to do but sit around and read books and expect me to entertain him for the whole week. On a good point, the two weeks of no fun appears to have made an impression as his room is clean, not just clean by picking things up but clean to the point that I’m not afraid of my parents coming this weekend to visit clean. He is also sitting on a 95 in math so far this period and the other grades are showing a bit of improvement as well. Now to see if I can live through a week of Smash Bros. and Halo.

Parenting rule #59483
Comments OffDo not stay up until 2am trying to get quests done on a newbie toon when you have to wake up at 6. Children grounded from video games will mock your state of tiredness and you will potentially be without witty retort, leaving you with options such as “Bite me” and “just wait until I’m coherent” the later of which should be said while taking a swing at the kid’s head and missing because your reflexes are shot.
More things to suck away my time
Comments OffI finally got around to getting a Ravelry account. Now I have to put all my ocd skills to work and get all my yarn and projects entered over there. In other news, I’m churning out some interesting thoughts on this whole story thing I’m working on, and I chucked Abney Park some money so I could download their new album (and they’re older stuff that I didn’t have yet) and it’s brilliant. The song from the video I linked a few back was awesome, but the rest of the album is wonderful for stirring things up in my head. It’s a wonderful mix of styles that definitely works for me, in particular the third track “Sleep Isabella” is stuck in my head. Definitely worth a listen, there are samples from all the tracks on their front page (go listen to them and buy them…really…go buy it, it’s good stuff)
