Kickstarting with socks

Comments Off

First post of the new year and it doesn’t happen until the 6th. I should try and sit down and do this when I think about all the things I should write as opposed to sitting down and not remembering why I did. I’m going to make an effort this year to track the knitting I do. It always just happens and I’ll finish something and not write about it or let something sit and forget about it.

This is as close to a resolution as I’m going to get, so don’t expect to see any lists here in the next few days.

I’m currently knocking out a pair of simple ribbed socks in Socks That Rock yarn that I’m totally loving right now. I have 2 skeins in different colorways, and I’ll figure out what I’m going to do with the second one after these are done.

There are currently only a few unfinished bits lying around, as I got off my ass and knitted up everything I had planned for holiday gifts. Yes, you heard that right, I finished off everything that was on the list! Right now, I’m left with an argyle cardigan, a cabled cardi that I’ve started more than once, and a ton of lovely alpaca sportweight that is going to become a Maidenhair cardi which will be my first Starmore patern.

I need to do some updating over on Ravelry and get my ducks in a row there as well. Now if I can find pics of everything, I’ll be set.

Getting around to uploading the pics from the Halloween parade last weekend. They’re not all great as everyone was moving and shuffling and a few stupid cows felt the need to stand directly in front of those of us who were trying to take pictures while sitting on the curb so the people behind us could see. Gotta love rude people who don’t give a shit, please go die in a fire.

I’ve loved this area of town since I moved to Atlanta and Halloween is a major production for most of the houses around here. It’s also a great place to trick or treat with kids because there are so many families that we know from the kid’s school. It’s definitely a reminder of what it was like back when we were kids, parents sitting on porches handing out treats while the kids are free to roam up and down the street from house to house.

Satan’s holiday my arse, it’s all about the candy….and having the coolest costume a kid could ask for. All the pics of the event are in the gallery…enjoy.

The local Halloween parade was this past Saturday and I have a ton of pictures to get formatted. Along with that, we did the giggling admission that we’ve been married for 9 years now and today I got a Link doll from Think Geek to show the love. There’s also a finished “Cardi for Merry” lying in the yarn bin, complete with buttons. So sue me, I’ll see what I can do in the next few days.

The husband is being forced to head off to his company offices out of town for three days, so I’ll have time to get all this stuff done. Then again, I may just sit around on the sofa, knit and watch chick flicks. Did I mention that the most wonderful husband who buys me stuffed Nintendo heros sat with me and watched PS I Love You last week? I figure it was the least he could do since at one point early in our marriage he made me watch The English Patient.

Ok…nothing says love like curling up on the sofa with sniffling, teary eyes and both pretending that you don’t notice the other person is doing the same thing. :)
