The kid wasn’t feeling well Wednesday, he had a sore throat, but wanted to go to the Flogging Molly concert. We ended up leaving before it was over because he looked like crap. Go ahead and call me a bad mom for taking him in the first place, but he’s old enough to say he’s feeling bad or not. We picked up the husband from the hospital Thursday morning with the intent of keeping the kid up in his room until he was over his stuff so it wouldn’t spread. Guess who got it? I’ve been camped out on the couch for the weekend.

The husband is doing fine, he’s staying away from both of us for the most part and he appears to be avoiding the plague that’s filling the living room. I feel so bad about this, I’m supposed to be taking care of him and he’s the one up and running around while I’m lying here blowing my insides into tissues.

I’ve got a bunch of stuff I wanted to post over the last week and didn’t get around to it, so I guess I’ll manage a catch up some time in the next few days.

Random morning thoughts

I tend to browse through the news on Google in the morning, and since I’m sitting here at the hospital and forgot my WoW authenticator, I’m being forced to surf and think. I just saw where another cabinet nominee has tax issues. Where the hell do these people stash their brains? I’m amazed more and more over the number of people in power in various elected positions that can’t be arsed to do what should be a no brainer. You do it every year, there’s a ton of crap all over the place about getting taxes done early, people who can do it for you, yada yada. Are these people so delusional that they don’t think it will matter? I’m almost ready to root for the IRS when it comes to audits from now on.

Actually I’m starting to agree with many others that I read in thinking that I’m one of a handful of people left in the country that didn’t go overboard on credit and keeps their books straight. Granted we have some issues, but compared to most, we’re in good shape. I at least had the common sense not to fall for the buy a bigger house bs a few years back.

Washington DC is one of those rare locations that should be considered “northern” but takes some lessons from those of us in the south. In addition to schools being closed when there is threat of bad weather, you will find that most stores are running low on bread, eggs, and milk. I would have thought that someone would have taken the time to brief you that there is a special French Toast Celebration that takes place randomly throughout the winter months.

I know that here in Georgia, this festive day will occur at least 3 times during the winter months. I suggest getting together with the person in charge of stocking the pantry and make sure you have a nice selection of syrups available at all times.

Yours truly,
Stepford Mom
