So today is the Official Talk Like a Pirate day, and I log in to WoW and see that Blizzard is jumping on the bandwagon as well. There’s a pirate captain in Booty Bay that will make you an honorary crew member for 12 hours. She’s hanging out near the horde flight master above the inn.
While this is cool, it only adds to my opinion that Pirates are way cooler than ninjas…especially Airship Pirates… More: Read the rest of this entry…
Anyone who watches the SciFi channel has been accosted hourly with the commercials for their new “made for SciFi” film, Rock Monster. Last night the kid, in a fit of giggling boredom came up with an entire verse to the B52 classic tune. If this weren’t proof enough that we’re a family of geeks, he was later playing with a rubic’s cube and asked me to pick a color. I replied, “purple.” This received the expected eye roll combined with the obligitory noob comment and so I gave in and said I’d pick one. “FFFFFF.” He just sat there a second and then started on the white side, while the conversation degraded into hex and rgb codes and giggles.
During the time this was going on, we were watching several episodes of the Scariest Places on Earth. Later in the night something smacked the back door, enough to make the dogs bark a bit. I got the additional freak out of seeing a figure coming into our room, granted it was only a second before I heard, “Mom?”
He had come downstairs after we went to bed because the couch is so much safer than his room. The noise really spooked him, and that in turn got me out of bed to take a look. The dogs had settled down quickly, so I figured there was nothing to it, but by that point we were all awake and the dogs wanted outside. The kid ended up with me in the bed, the husband took the couch and the dogs took turns sleeping in both places. Needless to say, no one got any sleep last night, but I did get a post out of it
We ended up with 6 instead of 12, but that’s the way it works sometimes. It’s funny when you meet people from online, you get to the location and stand around looking clueless and see other people doing the same…”hey there…are you….” yeah that was us.
The evening started off at the Cheesecake Factory, and after dinner 4 of us headed to a bar down the road to shoot pool and chat, which we did until 1 am. I’m tired, but it was so worth it. We’re going to try and get together again before Molly has to head home. I said this morning, that I knew it was a good night, we got so wrapped up in talking and getting to know each other that I completely forgot to take pictures. Hopefully I’ll remember tomorrow.
