As much as the idea of 365 posts appeals to me…

I’m finding myself lately with not a whole lot of worthwhile posting material. Granted, I could just throw some pretty pictures up around here, and do some quiz type things, but that’s not what I want to do. I think I may bail on the 365 competition and save the effort for the days when I have something to say. Between gaming, knitting, and writing fiction, there’s not always time to be entertaining around here.

I’m going to sleep on it and see how I feel in the morning.

World Building

This is one of the elements of fiction that draws me in and keeps me from getting anything written. Creating a believable environment in which the characters live and breathe is one of my pet peeves. The world has to exist as fully as the personalities of the people who populate it. I’m churning out pages of random notes and details, asking questions and answering those with more questions, there are characters doing the same, from their point of view, and slowly it’s becoming something solid. It’s still very rough, but it has some substance that can be held and felt. Please feel free to throw an opinion on this, I would like to know what you think. More: Read the rest of this entry…

It was one of those dreams..

There were steep rocky cliffs that rose up along the coast.  The sky was a mixture of sunrise oranges and reds, slowly letting the blue of the day come through.   Clouds drifted far in the distance, long trailing swirls. A ship floated above the water, taking people to the city at the top of the cliff.  The deck was flat, and brass railings were the only thing that kept the people safe.  Large sails filled with air as it moved slowly between it’s docks.

There was a powerful dark queen who wanted someone for herself, but he wanted to be with another and they were running.  The cart they were traveling on from town was slow, and they jumped off the back and ran into the forest.  They were looking for a child, they knew she was there somewhere, and they had to find her….   Then, the alarm went off, it’s all I remember.
