First finished items…
Comments OffI said I was going to make an effort to track everything I make this year and I am glad to say, I have 2 things done so far. I saw the Fishy pattern and had to make one. This was intended for the kid’s little brother, but unfortunately, he got to it first and I can’t get it off him. I’ll get another one underway this weekend, they’re quick and easy and a fun way to use up odd bits from the stash. I’m hoping that I’m going to run out of the orange/red/yellow that I’m making everything out of currently, but those are the colors that the kid asks for.
The other was a pair of socks for me.
There was another pair that I have finished and packed off to the sister in law, but I had one of those done a long time ago and had forgotten about them…

Kickstarting with socks
Comments OffFirst post of the new year and it doesn’t happen until the 6th. I should try and sit down and do this when I think about all the things I should write as opposed to sitting down and not remembering why I did. I’m going to make an effort this year to track the knitting I do. It always just happens and I’ll finish something and not write about it or let something sit and forget about it.
This is as close to a resolution as I’m going to get, so don’t expect to see any lists here in the next few days.
I’m currently knocking out a pair of simple ribbed socks in Socks That Rock yarn that I’m totally loving right now. I have 2 skeins in different colorways, and I’ll figure out what I’m going to do with the second one after these are done.
There are currently only a few unfinished bits lying around, as I got off my ass and knitted up everything I had planned for holiday gifts. Yes, you heard that right, I finished off everything that was on the list! Right now, I’m left with an argyle cardigan, a cabled cardi that I’ve started more than once, and a ton of lovely alpaca sportweight that is going to become a Maidenhair cardi which will be my first Starmore patern.
I need to do some updating over on Ravelry and get my ducks in a row there as well. Now if I can find pics of everything, I’ll be set.

This was one of those patterns that jumped out at me. I had been sitting on the yarn for some time and couldn’t decide what to do with it. The pattern was featured in Spin-Off, the Summer 08 issue along with an awesome gallery of examples in all different types of yarn.

The yarn itself is some hand spun that I did with some roving from Hello Yarn, which was one of my first attempts at a lace weight. It’s uneven but that’s part of the beauty of it now.
Thanks for the comments, hope this gives the rest of you some inspiration to try it with something you have lying around.

I couldn’t sleep last night. I went into the game for a bit, but wasn’t in the mood to play, so I camped on the couch around 8:30 and decided to see what I could get done. Yesterday was good, I finished the second sleeve for the hoodie, so that leaves sewing it up and I’ll be done with that.
The left scarf is for one of the kid’s teachers, the right is for whoever I’ve forgotten because I know there will be a last minute gift I need somewhere. The blue bit is the last side of the Arwen sweater which was originally intended for one person, but I wasn’t sure on size so it’s going to another.
There’s a hat that I finished off this morning. I cast on last night with it while i was zoning out on tv chatter and had one of those nights where I kept going, movies that were half entertaining were on and the next thing I knew, it was 3am and I was about 10 rows from finishing it off. I should have enough yarn to make a second one, so that’s another thing I can probably knock out in the next few weeks.
All in all I’m being a lot more productive than I anticipated.
