I’m working on a couple knitting projects at the moment. I’m not showing pics because I’m lazy and I knit too slow to show any progress really. One of the pieces is a little girl dress and it’s pretty straight forward stocking stitch, so a big plain square twice with sleeves.

Yesterday I sat down mid day and decided to crank out as much of the front as I could while watching a movie, and I made some decent progress. I also got around to dragging a bag of fiberfill stuff out of the closet and restuffing one of cushions on the sofa. This would have been a successful thing, but for one small catch.

Apparently by fluffing up the back cushion, I managed to slightly change the angle that I sit while knitting. I’m one of those people that curls up with my feet under me and leans into the corner of the sofa. Leaning against my left arm for a good couple of hours and doing a very monotonous repetitive hand motion has left me with knitters elbow. Don’t ask, it is what it is. I have a semi numb tingling pinky and a stiff elbow.

It’s just me that does this stuff isn’t it?

Found in the closet

imageI started this some time ago in an attempt to use up all the acrylic yarn that I’ve collected over the years from various projects and gifts. I stashed it in the closet after finishing off a row. No needles, no markers or notes as to what size I was using…yeah, kinda stuck at the moment on it.

I’m guessing it was on 9s or 10s because I would have been using a circular at that point, or I may have stopped because I didn’t have one in the size I was using. I guess I’ll figure something out.

Slowly working on a couple things. I should really concentrate on one at a time.

I picked up 4oz of silk/alpaca blended roving the other day. I’m a texture junkie, so I had to get started on it today. Half done…

knitting dilemma

I have a pattern that requires 25 stitches by 35 rows with a given yarn. Being a cow, yes I’m using the debbie bliss baby cashmarino so here’s my problem. I can not under any circumstances get gauge with knitting right handed. I’ve tried 4 different needle sizes and variations. I always come up with too many stitches across or if I get that right, I’m off on the rows.

I can, however, manage it dead on if I knit left handed, because I suck at it and have no tension on the yarn at all. I can not do this right handed no matter how I try. So, do I suck it up and look at it as an opportunity to practice continental stitching or just scream and ignore it all for a bit? My concern is that if I manage to get it right while knitting English, that I will change my tension at some point and make a Dr. Seuss dress instead of a cute little girl dress.
