It’s just a game

Recently the husband and I started playing Lord of the Rings Online again. We had bought it back shortly after it’s original release and got really frustrated and gave up on it. Yes, things have changed, both in what we were looking for in a game, and the game itself. I’ve dropped my WoW subscription 3 times in the past few years, and I kept going back. Each time I did, I got more and more annoyed with the general attitude of the players, to the point that I recently called it quits again, and as of right now, I’m not really that interested in the Cataclysm expansion.

After a couple years of tying myself to a raiding schedule, I’ve gotten over the need to have the best and biggest everything. There’s a part of me that would like to see the content in games I play, but at the same time, the time and work involved takes the experience beyond having fun, into a place that is more like work. That’s not what I want to spend my time doing.

Testing new phone app

Trying to link from gallery. I think this pretty much sums up how I feel about trying to deal with images on my phone. All she wanted was a peaceful nap.

In other brief news, I have a nice shiny new computer that has little media drives for all my odd bits of tech, so now I don’t have to keep thirty gazillion bits of cable in a jar by my desk to shift files about. I just pop the drives into the pc and bam! uploaded. This should mean that I might actually start using my camera again, as I don’t have to try and find that fricken cable every time I want to post something.

What does it take…

I’m really fed up with the sue happy corporate bullshit that fills the news. Some of it may be justified, but more often than not, it’s larger companies stomping out any potential innovation or creative working in the same general area. I’m waiting for someone to try and patent breathing at this point, and then jump on us all for infringing on its use.

Again, it’s the mighty blue F that started me off this morning. Facebook says it owns rights to the name book, I saw this earlier, and immediately went over and deactivated my account. It’s not like I can’t get in touch with people that I know anyway, and who knows, maybe it will make me get back in the swing of things here.
