my friend, Jas, had a c-section. previous to the procedure, she checked and double-checked and triple-checked that the doctor, the anesthesiologist (sp?), the nurses, and the hospital were all covered through her insurance. okay, everything set…d-day…all goes well. the bill comes, and it says she owes $3000 over what she expected. wtf? she calls the hospital and the insurance company and sure enough, the BACKUP doctor and anesthesiologist who were in the room *just in case something happened to the actual doc and anest.* weren’t “in-plan.” after much cursing and phone calls, she got stuck with the bills.

SOOOOO…kid #2 and c-section #2…all the checking again, this time including the backups. day of, before she goes in the room she does a final check. guess fucking what? someone’s not on the list. the backup got changed last minute and no one checked the backup’s replacement. she refuses to go in until they find someone in her plan.
