Coraline is a really cool animated film, it’s also a potentially scary film for children, and even some adults who creep out easily about buttons and such. I would whole heartedly suggest that before you rush off to see a family film that you do some homework, like read the book or at least be aware of the content of the film. That would have saved us all the trouble of trying to hear as you ran your kids out of the theater when “The Other Mother” got a bit upset with the way things were going.
Not that I ever wish ill on anyone, but I hope you learn something from this tonight when you have small people sleeping in your bed, poking you in the side with their pointy knees.
Yours truly,
Stepford Mom

Wow, that’s some mental apathy going on there. 2 words. Tim Burton. Even the promo was fairly creepy. In other words, Tim Burton <3

Yeah, I remember the (literally) years of nightmares our youngest had after her grandfather innocently let her watch “Gremlins” when she was like 4 or 5. The problem is that it’s got the whole “it’s animated, it must be for kids” thing going…even our theater set up its pre-show bit as all Nickelodeon and Disney promos.
And (pet peeve) it’s NOT TIM BURTON! It has nothing to do with Tim Burton. It’s Neil Gaiman and Henry Selick. Those “from the director of ‘Nightmare’ promos are really misleading.

you’re right, it’s not Tim Burton. The animation made me jump to conclusions. Now calm down and have a cookie.

I leave you guys alone for 5 minutes and look what happens…..
I’m a firm believer in letting kids see stuff they want if they’re able to deal with it. The Kid will be heading to the theaters to see Watchmen with us, but then again, I made a point of making the graphic novel available for him to read.
I do think it’s a matter of parents being aware of what their kids are exposed to, and some just don’t do the homework. It’s about time that people get a clue and start raising their own kids instead of expecting the world to do it for them.
