The following is a WoW geek gaming post.  No real life content included.  You have been warned.

When I started this site up, I decided the only way I was going to work on it seriously and write consistantly, was to take a break from WoW and dedicate my “Me time” to getting back into the swing here.  There was also the problem that I was really frustrated with my character, because as a healing druid, you can’t really do anything else.  Sure you can go bear/cat and smack something for 5 minutes, healing yourself in the middle and pray that it dies of boredom, but farming and questing because a bit of a pain.

With the changes in the new patch, I can actually kill things in a timely manner, and I really starting to have fun with it again.  I had gone back to a Balance spec for two weeks before the “break” began, and I had forgotten how good it was to burn the hell out of anything before it got to me.  However, being a main healer for raids, I was severely gimping myself, hence the second reason for the break to start with.   I’ve spent the last few days doing Netherwing dailies, which I had given up on because it took all day.  I’m also loving the new cooking and battleground quests as well.  As a healer, bg’s can be a blast or suck beyond belief, and being a big frigging cow in T4, yeah I stand out, but at least I can hurt them back now :)

We took our first shot at ZA last night as well, two groups went in, they had trouble, we kicked ass. The trash was easier than expected, and we got the bear down after 4 attempts.  I so love boss fights where you can run away if it goes bad and reset them.  It took a few tries to get the timing right on shifting tanks between his phases, but we pulled it off.

We took a stab at the eagle next.  Nasty lightning attacks and flinging of bodies into the air.  Taking half of total health damage from a fall sucks, and it sucks more when there are tons of little birds smacking everyone around, and lightning as well.  It’s an easy fight once you get the hang of it.  When he started to cast the storm, we all collapse into a single point so we were inside the damage ring.  It’s a bit of a tard check, you have to pay attention to what’s going on and move around a bit.  We kept at it, pulling our prot pally out to help do some healing and we managed to get the boss down.

Most of us are adults with jobs so we tend to knock off around midnight, so the rest will have to wait until Saturday, but it was definitely a fun night.  The environment is similar to ZG, but twists around on itself a bit more and seems more compact.  I’m just happy to have a new outdoor instance so druids can actually help with cc.  Roots worked on most of the mobs we ran into, and sleeping the critters is handy as well.  Over all, it was a good night.  Some nice mail and plate pieces dropped and we all ended up with 3 badges for the effort.
