After all the semi serious stuff (it’s as close as I’m gonna get people, deal) I was gonna write something stupid today and take a break. I also wanted to thank everyone for the wonderful comments. I was trying to answer everyone but y’all keep putting stuff up faster than I can respond. I’m not linking to the site in the pic or anything, because I don’t know what to think. I saw this sign on a major road through from the train station home though, and I had to stop.

The big question here is WTF is a “time out bed”? Personally I’m thinking restraints and shit, but I don’t know. Then again, how do you keep unruly teens in one place without tying them down? (that’s a joke by the way)
What bugs me, after reading their site, is that it seems to me they offer basic parenting as a paid service.
- Individual psychotherapy services
- Substance abuse service
- Skill development services, which include the development of:
- Behavior management skills
- Life skills
- Conflict resolution
- Problem solving skills
- Anger management skills
- Decision making skills
- Crisis management skills
- Family therapy
- School-based services
- Crisis management/stabilization services
- Positive youth development services
- Nutritional and health services
- Service Coordination
- Medication management
Italic is my reference point here, I’m still really unsure of what to think when I look at the site as a whole. I’m sure there are kids out there that need help, but this comes across with some Clockwork Orange vibe to me. They may be nice people, I really don’t know.

Well, as my own neighbor ruthlessly pointed out to me yesterday, people aren’t raising their own children anymore. There’s apparently only a small handful of parents who actually have a clue and do right by their kids. So the idea that there’s a psych ward-esque institution that teaches teens basic life skills, doesn’t surprise me in the least.

Sad but true. Tying it back to your “serious” post, education wouldn’t be in the state it is if there were more parents, you know, Parenting. It’s hard. That’s life. It can’t be all reality shows and gossip rags.
Well, off to Perez…
