I just got back from picking the husband up at the train station. There’s a Chick-fil-a on the way home, and they make really really really good milkshakes. One day I’ll have will power, but not today. We hit the drive through because it’s faster, these are the events as they unfolded.
“One chocolate shake with whipped cream and a cherry.”
“Yep.”
“That will be 3.01, drive to the first window please.”
I pulled my car around to the window, the guy at the register was easily in high school if not older. I handed him a 5 dollar bill and realized that I probably had change in my ashtray.
“Oh, I have the penny.”
The look on his face was priceless, I should remember to carry my camera with me on these occasions. He stared at the open cash drawer and at me holding out a penny.
“But I’ve already put it in.” He honestly had no clue what so ever what to do at this point, and he continued to count the coins out of the drawer.
“No prob,” I wasn’t going to argue, I have on average about 4-5 dollars in coins in my purse because I always end up with the change regardless of who in the family makes a purchase.
He handed me 1.91 in change. I kid you not. I should have said something, but I would have probably ended up in jail. So I’m just going to sit here and enjoy my milkshake and accept the fact that this post was worth at least 8 cents.

ha! how in the world do people not understand basic mathematics? how do they graduate? how do they make it into basic math-intensive jobs? geez people!
short related story – we went to an event that cost $14.50. my roommate gave the lady a $10 and a $5. she then gave him his $.50 in change as well as the $15 he gave her. *shakes head* it wasn’t very good, so he was glad he earned $.50 to go.
my dad always used to say: if you think education is expensive, try ignorance.
