I’ve got way too much yarn lying around the house. Three big bins full, to be exact. I’m one of those people that sees something and buys it regardless of having a project in mind. If it’s pretty, or a texture I like, it ends up in my car and in the bin, hopefully without my husband realizing that it’s there until it becomes something.

“Where did that scarf come from?”

“oh this? Something I had just lying around.”

One day he’s going to catch on. Actually I think he knows but chooses to ignore it.

heathered scarf

So forward…I have some extra heathered lavender that I bought some time ago when I first started knitting. It was originally purchased to become a sweater, but it turned into a shawl and a few left over skeins instead. Part of it is going to become a simple scarf for one of the kid’s teachers this year. I love doing easy stuff like this because you can work on it pretty much everywhere and not worry much if you have to put it down mid way through a row and do other things.

There was also a lovely bit of silk/wool blended hand dyed that I picked up when I got my spinning wheel. I’ve started several times to make something with it and I’ve always ripped it back out and stuffed it back in the bin. Finally it is becoming…

lace

I’ve become a bit obsessed with lace patterns lately, and in spinning lace weight yarns as well, I think it’s due to picking up this book. It’s all a matter of finding the right yarn for the project and I’m slowly working toward getting some hand spun yarn for one of the shawl patterns in here as well.
