My New Hero

I don’t think I have to say anything, just watch. I think I’m gonna embed this into my kid’s desktop somehow so I can just kick it off instead of saying all this.

Not only do I write with big words…

I actually tend to look at the code of links I add to my site. While stumbling this morning I ran across a cute test that rated your blog’s readability level, I thought it was rather clever. According to the scan it did, I write on a high school level. I was going to add the cute little graphic to my site until I caught the alt tag in the image for cash advance…yeah if you cut and paste the link for the image it sends people to a site to get cash advances… nice try assholes but no go. Not only do I write, but I can read as well. Just a note for those that love taking online quiz thingys, yes I used the word thingy twice, bite me. Please read any code before you add things to your site so you don’t unintentionally help the spam/asshats out. /psa for wanker awareness

I just checked my email and saw this

ups shipping

This means that Hellgate London will arrive some time today. This also means that I have to clean the house, do laundry and be ready to order pizza tonight because I’m sure as hell not going to be doing any of that once the package arrives.

knitting catch up

Comments Off

I’ve got way too much yarn lying around the house. Three big bins full, to be exact. I’m one of those people that sees something and buys it regardless of having a project in mind. If it’s pretty, or a texture I like, it ends up in my car and in the bin, hopefully without my husband realizing that it’s there until it becomes something.

“Where did that scarf come from?”

“oh this? Something I had just lying around.”

One day he’s going to catch on. Actually I think he knows but chooses to ignore it.

heathered scarf

So forward…I have some extra heathered lavender that I bought some time ago when I first started knitting. It was originally purchased to become a sweater, but it turned into a shawl and a few left over skeins instead. Part of it is going to become a simple scarf for one of the kid’s teachers this year. I love doing easy stuff like this because you can work on it pretty much everywhere and not worry much if you have to put it down mid way through a row and do other things.

There was also a lovely bit of silk/wool blended hand dyed that I picked up when I got my spinning wheel. I’ve started several times to make something with it and I’ve always ripped it back out and stuffed it back in the bin. Finally it is becoming…

lace

I’ve become a bit obsessed with lace patterns lately, and in spinning lace weight yarns as well, I think it’s due to picking up this book. It’s all a matter of finding the right yarn for the project and I’m slowly working toward getting some hand spun yarn for one of the shawl patterns in here as well.

So I moved my blog here…

And I swore that I was actually going to start posting content again regularly like I did “back in the day.” I found the perfect thing to kick this off in good form. One of my personal pet peeves is the insane number of commercial, and by commercial I mean full of ads and not much else, and pro blogs. I swear I’ve seen the same “10 ways to make yer blog make money” posts at least 10 times today on stumbled content. Every now and then I get lucky and find stuff like this or this and my heart jumps a little bit because there is still really cool stuff out there hiding in the cracks.

Back to what I was going to write about…

NaBloPoMoI was reading stuff and saw something about November and lots of words, yeah the whole NaNo thing that I said I was not going to subject myself to yet again, and then I went over here and found a great alternative. 30 days of blog posts, I can do that.

If I can write some odd 17000 words about ninjas, pirates, hot nurses, alien probes, hot wax, apocalyptic events leading to the creation of new races and some other stuff like shopping for shoes, then by the FSM I can probably come up with something to blather about every day for a month.
